Sons and Daughters

(a reflection on Easter)

we are sons of adam
knowing what's right and
choosing the wrong
feeding our pride by
passing the buck
clothed in anger
hiding in shame

we are daughters of eve
lacking in trust and
taking control
grasping for power but
left empty-handed
covered in sadness
hidden in pain

we are children of a fall
reaping from seeds of sin
generations of brokenness
not one is spared
only One can save

our hope is in this One who,
while we walk still clothed and covered,
promises us a new body and
a new world where,
naked and unashamed,
we choose love
forever.
